VTB says banks issue record 116 bln rbl of car loans in May
MOSCOW, Jun 6 (PRIME) -- Russian banks issued about 116 billion rubles of car loans in May, a historical record, VTB said on Tuesday.
"Under VTB's estimate, the Russian banks lent households about 116 billion rubles on the purchases of vehicles in May, which was the highest figure in the history of the market. The previous peak was in April of the record year of 2021, 109.9 billion rubles," VTB said.
VTB issued 14.5 billion rubles of loans, up 21% on the month.
In January–May, the car loans of Russian banks grew by 9% as compared with the same period of 2021 to more than 475 billion rubles.
